Have you ever made something that, later when you look back at it, you are truly impressed with. I crocheted a toy giraffe for my daughter when she was a baby. I was fairly new to crochet and it meant following a pattern accurately, something I am still not very good at. I made all the small, perfectly formed pieces, using a tiny hook and did as I was told for each row. I finished Malcolm and was chuffed to pieces. So much so that I then went on to make one for my nephew and one for my best friend’s daughter. Malcolm remains a triumph, but when I look at him I am totally gob-smacked, because I don’t know how I managed it. I honestly do not think that I could make him (or his friends) now, all these years later when I know that my crochet skills have improved. He was obviously a moment of random genius!
Malcolm!
