Just because you can crochet, doesn’t mean you should!

I have two kids in school and periodically they announce, with eye wateringly short notice, that they need a costume for something or other and when this happens I have been known to occasionally crochet something for them. Sometimes these work out surprisingly well. My DD was a sheep in the school play so I made a chunky cream headband with ears and eyes and matched it with a white P.E t-shirt and leggings – boom a very cute sheep. We also had a dress as your class animal costume request. This time it was a yellow headband, with feathers and an orange beak – there you have it, a duckling. However, no one wants to see your child dressed in crochet lederhosen or a crochet Viking breastplate.
