I have two kids in school and periodically they announce, with eye wateringly short notice, that they need a costume for something or other and when this happens I have been known to occasionally crochet something for them. Sometimes these work out surprisingly well. My DD was a sheep in the school play so I made a chunky cream headband with ears and eyes and matched it with a white P.E t-shirt and leggings – boom a very cute sheep. We also had a dress as your class animal costume request. This time it was a yellow headband, with feathers and an orange beak – there you have it, a duckling. However, no one wants to see your child dressed in crochet lederhosen or a crochet Viking breastplate. It’s important to know your limitations and when to get the cardboard and glue gun out of the cupboard instead
Just because you can crochet, doesn’t mean you should!
