Learning a new stitch

How often do you learn a new stitch? To be fair I don’t very often, but it is so easy now to find an instruction video on YouTube or Instagram, you can even search for random terms like ‘fat bobble’ or ‘smooth rib’. I also have a lovely book (Crochet Stitches Handbook). I certainly was more adventurous with new stitches when I first started crocheting, it was all new and fresh and I was happy to keep trying new things. I am doing it less so now, I’m happy with the stitches I know for the projects I am making. However, I have an Instagram feed full of pretty hands showing me new stitches and ideas. I watch them and save them and hope that one day I might even try them…and then I go back to my comfortable stitches of old! Mind you, if I was to learn a new technique I would certainly need to buy some more wool.
